DigiLocker is an important initiative of India, the main initiative of India to target India as a digital dynamic society and knowledge economy under digital India. Digi Lacker is a platform for distributing documents and certificates of a digital format, thus eliminating the use of physical documents by targeting paperless governance. DigiLocker app is a “digital locker” service, which the Indian government enables Indian citizens to collect certain claims. This service aims at reducing demand for physical documents. This is part of the government’s digital India initiative.
The 1GB Storage Space will be provided to maintain an Identity card issued by government agencies, educational certificates, PAN cards, driving license, vehicle ownership records and other documents.
Users should have an Aadhaar card to use DJs. Aadhaar card number and a one-time pass to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number should be entered for access. In order to log in later, the user can set up their own password or link to Facebook or Google Logins.
The Beta version of the service was released in February 2015, the Prime Minister’s initiative on 1 July 2015. The provided storage space was 10 MB, then it was increased to 1 GB later.
